I have been a little quiet lately for a very good reason…. please meet the new addition to our family
In the hospital
Well what can I say? we are sleep deprived but very happy. My oldest son is very pleased to be a big brother and has not stopped kissing his little brother since we got home but to be fair I can not stop kissing him either
ohhh that baby smell is just wonderful. I hope to post some more soon once I catch up on some sleep π
Can it be classed as a baby moon if you have your three year old tagging along?
We stayed in the UK as I didn’t want to go abroad while 30 weeks pregnant I just don’t think I could cope with the heat. We were lucky enough to visit a friend in leeds for a few days and then visit family in Edinburgh.
Even more lucky that it did not rain in Edinburgh whilst we was there! It always seems to rain normally (well whenever we are there that is)
The scenery just outside of Edinburgh was just stunning and I got chance to rest which was really needed.
Out for a walkΒ
My beautiful three year old took his tantrum to a new level on the Friday before traveling home and learnt a new dreaded word and NO it was not a swear word (thankfully) however it was something much more devastating “I HATE you” my heart almost broke when he said Β it to me π¦ my first thought was…I thought I had much more time to prepare before he became a teenager! and my second thought was…what have I done, I have another one on the way how will I cope? haha bit ate now i hear you say π
Anyway I have been doing some sewing I actually have quite a bit to catch up on, I just have to attempt to take some half decent pictures.
So as I mentioned in my last post it was my mothers birthday on Monday and I let my son pick what cake we would bake her
I tried to persuade him to pick a white chocolate gateau but we ended up with a recipe for cupcakes. Not only does he share my sweet tooth but he also knows his own mind as well and there was no budging it, I can not for the life of me think where he gets that from…..
Anyway here are the pictures as promised
Yum
Needless to say Nanny loved her Birthday treat and so did we!
Just to get a little bit more mushy on you my son said something very sweet the other day I was struggling to put my trainers on and he said to me “don’t worry mummy I will help you now you are big” and he did how cute is he?! he also offers his hand to help me up off the sofa if he thinks I am struggling to get up. I wouldn’t mind but I am only 6 months pregnant! (although i will admit to struggling to put my trainers on just a little π )
Let me just say right now I am not religious in any way but I like to take a breather from everyday life (which the easter break affords) and step back and take the time to be grateful for things and for me the one big thing I am so grateful for is my family. Friends are pretty important too. You really can’t get a better “holiday” as it not only involves a long weekend and family but also has plenty of chocolate! (well apart from christmas)
So what have we been up to?
My husband brought home a choconchoc build your own house
mmmm
My husband knows the way to my heart π On the pack it does say from age 4+ well my son is three but let me tell you he enjoyed it, not the making of the house really as there was not much he could do but he did manage to fit in a bit of this:
just like his mum?
and he got to wear a hat which he was pretty pleased about
nothing better then dressing upΒ
He also enjoyed colouring in the garden
photo bomb!
The end result impressed my son, the look of achievement on his face was priceless and definitely a moment to cherish. Would I buy it or a similar kit again? I would, for one the chocolate is very good and it gave us something to do together that we are both passionate about (if you have not guessed already it is the chocolate!)
Please note we may have had to do a little patch job as we was not patient enough to let it set completely in the fridge….
Time has flown by this year, I can not believe we are knocking at the door of April already! I have not been very active on wordpress recently but trust me I have a very good reason…
We have been cooking up a great deal in our house lately including the bun in the oven π
is it a baby or a dinosaur as my little boy suggested?
Boy (or should I say girl?) have I been unwell this time around but now I am starting to feel more human and more like my old self I am hoping to get back to some crafting. I mean I was so unwell I didn’t even want to look at any blog posts or Pinterest! Yes I was that unwell!
Anyway I do not want to bore you with baby related stuff, I am sure there will be plenty of that to come π
I have managed to do a little cooking and have found some new family favourites which I hope to post about later on this week as there is quite a bit of catching up to do.
My son turned three a couple of weeks ago and all he had asked for was cake, so that is exactly what he got (as well as a few presents, I wanted him to have something to open after all!)
ohhh argh
I was lucky enough to have help from my nieces otherwise it would have looked a complete mess, lets just say cake decorating is not my forte.
But he loved it anyway especially the treasure chest filled with sweets
There be treasure
Our holiday in Scotland was just what we all needed with plenty of fresh air and lots of family time
a little walkrefreshing views
I did complete a couple of projects and even managed to start a few more but I leave you today with my favourite moment of the holiday
My son had a party a couple of days before his Birthday so on the day when he woke up I asked him:
“Do you know what day it is son?”
“No Mummy”
“Well today is your Birthday!”
“Oh not again!”
“But you get presents and more cake”
“No I don’t want it”!
Oh dear, sooo not his mothers son, if someone had told me there was more cake and presents I would be jumping out of that bed as quickly as possible π
We are visiting family in Scotland and let me tell you this is a well needed break!
I have been doing little things just look at this rather yummy looking soup (if I do say so myself)…
Homemade soup
The soup is butternut squash and apple and is by far my favourite soup of all time (so far)
Another thing I have done recently is buy some new dinnerware. I previously had dark blue which was very nice but after four years I was ready for a change and that included a change in colour as the plates sometimes made food look slightly dull, am I sounding slightly crazy here or have you also noticed that white plates and bowls make food look more inviting?
Don’t you just love a white bowl?!
The journey up to Scotland is quite draining as we travel up to the western isles but we were all on quite good form I think, probably from the excitement
At the airport
We had all been feeling quite poorly from one thing or another so we really felt like we needed this break. On a positive note I am now feeling much better and hope to do some crafty things while on holiday so watch this space
Oh and here is one rather cute picture for the road…
Well it has been non stop for my little family lately. First we jetted off to Lanzarote, all inclusive for ten days (woo hoo) needless to say I have put on weight π we took my mum for her 60th Birthday but to be honest the holiday was just what we needed too.
Enjoying the beach
We got home on the Friday morning and my mother-in-law and nephew came down from Scotland on the Monday! Our nephew had never been to London so of course we had to show him all the sights, the London eye, London dungeons, London zoo and Chessington world of adventures
London in the evening
They went home on Wednesday and I am EXHAUSTED.
So I decided a nice bit of sewing on Thursday evening was just what I needed but either my machine is very upset with me for abandoning it for almost a month or it is unwell but either way it is just not playing ball π¦ so there has been no sewing this week HUMPH
I have decided I needed a new machine anyway but to be fair to my little brother (sewing machine) she has been a good little machine so I am really not sure what to do
