I have a friend who is pregnant and wanted to make something for the baby on the way but I was not sure what until I decided on burp cloths. With all the materials in I cracked on with it, I had looked up some tutorials but it is all quite straight forward so decided to make my own size/shape. The mother to be is very petite (read: Shortie) so I decided not to make them too big and also decided to make them rectangular, I had thought about a kidney bean sort of shape but the expectant mother does not live close by so decided to go with a safe option as I do not want it to be too big.
Without further a do here is what I ended up with I have only made two so far but wanted to get some other sort of cute fabric to mix it up a bit, which hopefully will happen this week…..
Now all I need to do is see how they wash up before I send them out to her, fingers crossed and wish me luck!
I am going for the alternative review today so here goes:
Most special moment:- Well this one is easy my son was born in August and my oldest son is over the moon with his new little brother, what more cold I ask for.
Projects still in progress:- Well I couldn’t really do a list of my work completed as because quite frankly it would be very small.
THAT Scarf, that is what I call it now seriously will it ever be finished?
A christmas cushion
a tote bag
my son’s patchwork quilt
Disclaimer: this is probably not a complete list, there may be more hidden round the house that I may have stored for a later date.
Did I blog at least twice a week? (as per last years resolutions) Hahaha That is all I have to say on that one!
Seriously though this has been my year of learning…
What did I learn from this year:
How to cut straight with a rotary cutter, seriously this was not easy for me! (p.s I could not remember the name of that knife thingy, I had to look it up on the net until I came across what I was looking for: rotary cutter. Oh 8 hour sleeps how I miss you)
Not to be so critical of myself when it comes to sewing, my sons quilt rarely matches up but you know what he will love it so why was I worrying? (well he will love it once it is finished that is!)
What did I achieve?
I guess giving the tote bags away to family was a big thing. Hardly anyone in my family (or friends) knew that I was blogging or sewing!
I hope to have an actual finished project list for 2015. Fingers crossed….
the day I went into labour with my first son I baked some gingerbread men, I swore at the time that the gingerbread men had brought on my labour. Fast forward 3 years and 8 months and I decided I would bake gingerbread men again the timing was perfect as my mother in law was down so could look after my first son so my husband could be there for the birth.
The plan had been to bake the gingerbread men at 39 weeks again but like all good plans we was so busy I did not get round to baking the biscuits until I was 39 weeks and 2 days and as if by magic that evening as I got into bed I had my first contraction. I think gingerbread men are now my most favourite bake 😉
This time round of course I had a helper in the shape of a 3 year old who could not wait to decorate them which didn’t happen for a few days but we did finally make time to decorate our own gingerbread family
I would like to point out that I do not think the biscuits themselves brought on the labour but I think maybe the exercise helped the labour to come on all that mixing, bending to put things in and take things out of the oven ( haha bun in the oven comes to mind 🙂 )
I have been a little quiet lately for a very good reason…. please meet the new addition to our family
Well what can I say? we are sleep deprived but very happy. My oldest son is very pleased to be a big brother and has not stopped kissing his little brother since we got home but to be fair I can not stop kissing him either
ohhh that baby smell is just wonderful. I hope to post some more soon once I catch up on some sleep 🙂
Time has flown by this year, I can not believe we are knocking at the door of April already! I have not been very active on wordpress recently but trust me I have a very good reason…
We have been cooking up a great deal in our house lately including the bun in the oven 🙂
Boy (or should I say girl?) have I been unwell this time around but now I am starting to feel more human and more like my old self I am hoping to get back to some crafting. I mean I was so unwell I didn’t even want to look at any blog posts or Pinterest! Yes I was that unwell!
Anyway I do not want to bore you with baby related stuff, I am sure there will be plenty of that to come 😉
I have managed to do a little cooking and have found some new family favourites which I hope to post about later on this week as there is quite a bit of catching up to do.
