My stork has arrived!

I have been a little quiet lately for a very good reason…. please meet the new addition to our family

new baby

Well what can I say? we are sleep deprived but very happy. My oldest son is very pleased to be a big brother and has not stopped kissing his little brother since we got home but to be fair I can not stop kissing him either

ohhh that baby smell is just wonderful. I hope to post some more soon once I catch up on some sleep πŸ™‚

My fabric finds

I may have been adding to my fabric stash lately well I mean what is a girl to do when on maternity leave? apart from watching daytime tv and dreaming of chocolate….

BUY FABRIC OF COURSE !

denim fabric

Orange fabric

striped fabric

Just look at this cute fabric
Just look at this cute fabric

In my defence most of the fabric bought was discounted…..

pink polka dot

large dotty fabric

I think I may be a bit dotty haha
I think I may be a bit dotty haha

and I had projects in mind… for most of it….

But I still need more I think I have the equivalent of nesting but instead of collecting a huge amount of baby clothes and soft teddies I have been collecting fabric for non baby related sewing.

more bags all sewn up

I have finally finished work, well my last day was Friday and I feel like I have not stopped so lets get on with the catch up…

I made these bags about two weeks….

I also made a cosmetic bag but the zip keeps getting stuck where I got a bit too close to the zip when sewing but I still like it quirks and all

I really do need to say sorry again regarding the lighting in these photo’s but hey I now have another 5 weeks to brush up on my skills if the baby does not arrive before his due date that is.

Here is a sneak peek at what else I have been working on

sneak peek my oh so cute moment of the week was when my son declared he is going to marry me! I asked where he had heard the word “marry” and he said from a girl at nursery so I asked who she wanted to marry and he said “not me because I am marrying you” doesn’t your heart just melt or maybe that is my hormones on overdrive did I mention I cried at a disney film last week?!

Tote bag making

I have been honing my sewing skills with tote bag making and have really enjoyed it so much so that I am planning to make more… Here are two of them I made at the start of last week

Tote bags

simple you may think but can I get my boxed corners to line up? NO arghh I have finished my 4th bag and they are still slightly out! I will try and try again until I get those corners perfect.

Oh and the other thing that is quite obvious is I did not swap the bottom thread to match the lining (D’oh)

tote bag with lining

tote bag with liningOn another note I have one week left at work before I go on maternity leave, I still don’t think it has hit me yet that in just 8 weeks (if I do not go over that is) we will have a new member of the family eek mind you the back ache and waddle should be a constant reminder!

Mini break away

Can it be classed as a baby moon if you have your three year old tagging along?

We stayed in the UK as I didn’t want to go abroad while 30 weeks pregnant I just don’t think I could cope with the heat. We were lucky enough to visit a friend in leeds for a few days and then visit family in Edinburgh.

Even more lucky that it did not rain in Edinburgh whilst we was there! It always seems to rain normally (well whenever we are there that is)

The scenery just outside of Edinburgh was just stunning and I got chance to rest which was really needed.

Out for a walk
Out for a walkΒ

My beautiful three year old took his tantrum to a new level on the Friday before traveling home and learnt a new dreaded word and NO it was not a swear word (thankfully) however it was something much more devastating “I HATE you” my heart almost broke when he said Β it to me 😦 my first thought was…I thought I had much more time to prepare before he became a teenager! and my second thought was…what have I done, I have another one on the way how will I cope? haha bit ate now i hear you say πŸ˜‰

Anyway I have been doing some sewing I actually have quite a bit to catch up on, I just have to attempt to take some half decent pictures.

Birthday Cupcakes

So as I mentioned in my last post it was my mothers birthday on Monday and I let my son pick what cake we would bake her

I tried to persuade him to pick a white chocolate gateau but we ended up with a recipe for cupcakes. Not only does he share my sweet tooth but he also knows his own mind as well and there was no budging it, I can not for the life of me think where he gets that from…..

Anyway here are the pictures as promised

Needless to say Nanny loved her Birthday treat and so did we!

Just to get a little bit more mushy on you my son said something very sweet the other day I was struggling to put my trainers on and he said to me “don’t worry mummy I will help you now you are big” and he did how cute is he?! he also offers his hand to help me up off the sofa if he thinks I am struggling to get up. I wouldn’t mind but I am only 6 months pregnant! (although i will admit to struggling to put my trainers on just a little πŸ™‚ )

Lined Tote bag

Hi Everyone

Where has this week gone?! I have been super busy but a good sort of busy, another first (I know there are loads on this blog of mine!) was the lined tote bag I completed last week

Summer is here

I was so chuffed with the results I have given it away, this may not seem like much but normally when I make something I always feel like it is not good enough but not this time πŸ™‚

Hope you enjoy it mum.

Talking of my mum it is her Birthday tomorrow so watch out for some baking pictures in the next post.

Is there such a thing as a healthy cookie?

I have a sweet tooth I do try to be good but who can resist the call of chocolate?

Add to the sweet tooth the fact that I enjoy baking and it all equates to very little willpower

So last week when the baking bug bit me I tried to look for a healthier option. I found an oat and raisin cookie recipe…. ok I may be fooling myself but surely a cookie with fruit in it is classed as healthy right???

My little helper was there to… well help! considering he is 3 I was impressed with his concentration skills he was in charge of the bowl and spoon and did a superb job his new favourite sentence is “I am the helper, I am good at helping” lets hope he is still saying that in ten years time.

I have been doing a little sewing I promise it is not all about my stomach! although my family would be forgiven for thinking it is.

Purple cushion and a little helper

I bought some lovely fabric quite some time ago, I even cut it out and like so many other projects it lay there in my bottomless craft drawer for many months (ok I admit it there may be more then one drawer….)

I finally got around to making it up last week. I even had a little helper namely my son, if you were thinking it was my husband you would be sadly wrong my three year old has more idea about what the word helpful means although I have to say my husband is pretty nifty at washing clothes so he has his uses πŸ˜‰

Do not worry though my three year old was not in charge of the sewing machine he just put the foot down for me and supplied me with a running commentary on how he was my helper and a good boy. We paused for dinner half way through and as soon as we finished he was on my back telling me we needed to get back to work so he also turned out to be my slave driver!

But it did get me one finished cushion

Happy Easter

Let me just say right now I am not religious in any way but I like to take a breather from everyday life (which the easter break affords) and step back and take the time to be grateful for things and for me the one big thing I am so grateful for is my family. Friends are pretty important too. You really can’t get a better “holiday” as it not only involves a long weekend and family but also has plenty of chocolate! (well apart from christmas)

So what have we been up to?

My husband brought home a choconchoc build your own house

mmmm
mmmm

My husband knows the way to my heart πŸ™‚ On the pack it does say from age 4+ well my son is three but let me tell you he enjoyed it, not the making of the house really as there was not much he could do but he did manage to fit in a bit of this:

just like his mum?
just like his mum?

and he got to wear a hat which he was pretty pleased about

nothing better then dressing up
nothing better then dressing upΒ

He also enjoyed colouring in the garden

The end result impressed my son, the look of achievement on his face was priceless and definitely a moment to cherish. Would I buy it or a similar kit again? I would, for one the chocolate is very good and it gave us something to do together that we are both passionate about (if you have not guessed already it is the chocolate!)

choc house

Please note we may have had to do a little patch job as we was not patient enough to let it set completely in the fridge….choc house

We have just started to eat it today, yum.
